Theresa Brown has been involved with Nebraska Youth Camp for 25 years. She has served on the Board of Directors for several years as Secretary and Committee Chairperson. During the Beginners, Intermediate, and Senior sessions, she has served as a Session Director, Cabin Councilor, Lifeguard, Nurse, Teacher, and also in the Canteen.
At her local church in Lincoln Nebraska she serves as a 4th and 5th grade Sunday School Teacher and also helps with Leadership Training for Christ.
“ The campers motivate me to serve. I want them to experience camp at its best; to develop the lifelong friendships like I did; to cultivate a servants' heart while learning more about our Savior, themselves, and each other.
I love Nebraska Youth Camp. The times that I spent as a camper are some of my fondest memories and I want NYC to continue to offer that to others. My passion for NYC drives my motivation to serve and give back. ”
Theresa uses her experiences as a camper, a staff member, a Board member, and Session Director to view the camp from several different perspectives. This enables her to serve the camp the best that she can. She currently works with special needs preschoolers in Lincoln Public Schools.
Outside of church and camp Theresa loves spending time with her family; watching movies and taking trips. She loves cooking, music, and sports, although the order varies during football season.
Theresa's favorite scripture is Philippians 2:12-18 “ Therefore, my dear friends, as you have always obeyed—not only in my presence, but now much more in my absence—continue to work out your salvation with fear and trembling, for it is God who works in you to will and to act in order to fulfill his good purpose. Do everything without grumbling or arguing, so that you may become blameless and pure, “children of God without fault in a warped and crooked generation.” Then you will shine among them like stars in the sky as you hold firmly to the word of life. And then I will be able to boast on the day of Christ that I did not run or labor in vain. But even if I am being poured out like a drink offering on the sacrifice and service coming from your faith, I am glad and rejoice with all of you. So you too should be glad and rejoice with me. ”
