Jerry Munsell

Jerry Munsell has been involved with Nebraska Youth Camp for 42 years. He has served on the Board of Directors for many years as Treasurer. Jerry has also served the camp as a Cabin Councilor, Maintenance man, and volunteer Construction Worker, serving at the Beginners, Junior, Intermediate, Senior, and Family camp sessions, as well as the Midwest Youth Rally. Jerry also keeps the camp website updated with pictures and information. He and his wife Mary currently live on the camp grounds serving as the Caretakers.
At his local congregation in Kearney Nebraska, Jerry takes his turn serving communion and leading prayers. He also helps church members move and helped poor concrete in the parking lot. When he and his family lived in Hastings, he was a deacon for many years, an elder, and served as the church Treasurer for 28 years.
“ The camp has had an enormous impact on my life and the lives of my wife and children. I feel that the camp ministry is vital to the future of the church. Especially the smaller churches that do not have a large youth group to support one another. I want the camp to continue to fill this role for future generations.
My relationship with Jesus Christ was truely realized at NYC even though I grew up in the church. I was baptized at camp. Mary, Jake and Megan were also baptized at camp. It has impacted all of us immensely. ”
Jerry uses his skills in construction work and accounting to serve the camp. In the past he has built and remodeled houses, done concrete work, roofing, etc. He worked as a book keeper for Prarie Title Inc. in Hastings, and was trained in Management and Team Building while working for Thermo King Corp. He currently works as an Abstracter and Title Insurance Agent for Prairie Title Inc. in Hastings. Jerry has worked on nearly every camp construction project for the past 30 years.
Outside of church and camp Jerry enjoys hunting and fishing, and more recently, geocaching.
Jerry's favorite scripture is Ephesians 3:20 “ Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us. ”
